      news Massive Pulmonary Emboli Associated with Olanzapine

      Summary points:This report describes three cases of massive pulmonary embolism in which the only apparent risk factor was use of the novel antipsychotic olanzapine. The authors review the literature on pulmonary embolism associated with use of antipsychotic therapies, the possible mechanism for a thrombogenic effect of olanzapine, and treatment modalities.
